Brief Look at the FIFA Laws of the Game

Field Of Play -   Maximun field size 120 X 90, Rectangle
-   Minimum field size 90 X 45, Rectangle
-   Longer boundary lines are called touch lines
-   Shorter lines called the goal lines
-   Divided in half with goal areas at each end
-   Goals placed in center of each goal line (8ft X 24ft )
-   Our size fields/goals are determined by BMYSL
Ball -   Spherical, made of leather or other suitable material
-   Ball may not be changed without authority from Referee
Players & Equipment -   2 teams, not more than 11, not less than 7
-   Referee must authorize substitutions
-   Player may not wear anything which is dangerous to himself or another player (includes jewelry)
-   Shirt, Shorts, Stockings, Shinguards, socks must cover shinguards, Footwear
-   Goalkeeper must wear color which distinguish them from other players
-   A player can be asked to correct equipment as game continues, needs permission from Ref. before returning
Referee -   Each match is controlled by a Referee who has full authority to enforce the Laws of the Game in connection with the match appointed too
-   Ensures player equipment meets requirements
-   Acts as timekeeper and keeps records of match
-   Stops, suspends or terminates the match at their discretion, do to infringments of law
-   Stops, suspends or terminates the match because of outside interference
-   Decisions of Referee are final and cannot change a decision if play has been restarted
Duration of Game -   Allowance for lost time is at the discretion of the Referee
-   Time is to be extended until the Penalty Kick is completed
Start and Restart Play -   Coin is tossed, winner decides which goal to attack in fisrt half other teams gets ball
-   Kick Off starts match, after goal start 2nd half, and extra time
-   A goal may be scored directly from a kick-off
-   Ball is in play when it is kicked and moved forward
-   The kicker cannot play ball until touched by another player
-   A drop ball is a way of restarting after a temporary stoppage
-   Play restarts when the ball touched the ground
Ball in & out of Play -   Ball is out of play when wholly crosses goal or touch line on ground or air
-   Is in play if rebounds into play from goalpost, crossbar, corner flag or referee
Method of Scoring -   A goal is scored when the whole ball passes over goal line, between the goalposts provided no infringement of laws committed prior to scoring
Offside -   A player is in an offside postion if nearer to the goal line than the ball and the second last opponent
-   A player IS NOT Offside if: in own half of field, has possesion of ball, is level with 2nd last opponent
-   A player in Offside position is penalized if, at the moment the ball is play and the Offside player is involved in active play. -   No Offence if player receives ball from goal kick, throw-in or corner kick
-   An Indirect Free Kick is awarded for Infringement
Fouls & Misconduct -   An Direct Kick is awarded for the following infringements: kicking, tripping, jumps at, charges, strikes, pushes, holds, intentional hand ball and spits at an opponent
-   An Indirect Kick is awarded for the following infringements: plays in dangerous manner, impedes progress of opponent, prevents goalkeeper from releasing ball, Offsides, goalkeeper possess ball in ball for 6 seconds, touches ball with hands after releasing and touches ball kicked to them by team-mate
-   Cautionable Offences are: unsporting behaviour, disent by word or action, persistenly infringes Laws, delays restart of play, fails to respect required distance on kicks, enter or re-enter field of play without Ref. permission
-   Sending Off Offences are: serious foul play, violent conduct, spits at any person, denies goal scoring opportunity, offensive or insulting or abusive language or gestures, receives a second cautionable offence
-   A foul can be committed with the Referee allowing play to continue if the Referee feels that offended player has an advantage
Free Kicks -   Free kicks are either direct or indirect
-   Ball must be stationary and kicker cannot touch ball until touched by another player
-   A goal is awarded if it goes directly into opponents goal from a Direct kick
-   A corner kick is awarded if it goes directly into team's own goal from a Direct kick
-   A goal is awarded on an Indirect kick if it touches another player before entering goal
-   All opponents must be 10yds from ball, Defending team all players must remain outside penalty area until ball passes beyond, Attacking team Indirect Kick must be outside goal area
-   Ball is in play when it is kicked and moves, except when taken in penalty area of defending team
Penalty Kicks -   Penalty kick is awarded against a team which commited an offence which a direct kick is awarded
-   A goal can be scored directly from a penalty kick
-   The player taking the penalty must be properly identified
-   The defending goalkeeper remains on goal line facing the kicker between the goalposts until the ball has been kicked
-   Players other than the kicker are located in field of play, outside penalty area, 10 yds from penalty mark
-   If kicker infringes Laws of Game the Referee can allow kick to proceed or retake kick if it enters goal
-   If the goalkeeper infringes Laws of Game the Referee can allow kick to proceed or award the goal if it enters goal
-   For any other player that infringes Laws of Game the Referee can allow kick to proceed, award the goal or retake kick
-   If the player taking the kick touches ball a second time before it has touched another player and indirect free kick (Direct if touched by hand) is awarded to the opposing team
Throw-In -   Method to restart game because the ball crossed over touch line
-   A goal cannot be scored directly from a throw-in
-   No player is in an offside position at time of throw-in and can receive the ball
-   The thrower must face the field of play
-   Part of each foot must be on the touch line or on the ground outside the touch line
-   Must use both hands and delivers ball from behind and over their head
-   May not play ball until it has touched another player
Goal Kick -   Method to restart game because the ball crossed the goal line from attacking team
-   The ball is kicked from any point within the goal area
-   Opponents must remain outside penalty area until ball leaves penalty area. Retake kick if touched in area
-   The kicker cannot play ball until it has touched another player
Corner Kick -   Method to restart game because the ball crossed the goal line from defending team
-   A goal can be scored directly from a corner kick
-   The ball is placed inside corner arc, the corner flag cannot be moved
-   Opponents must be 10yds from ball
-   The kicker cannot play ball until it has touched another player
